Wyoming, My Home Away From Home
After arriving at Yellowstone, the first thing my family and I noticed was the rotten-egg stench of sulfur gas. We couldn’t help but laugh at each other and jokingly point fingers as to who farted. The smell was bearable because we were drawn by the grand landscape and the abundance of rich colors of the hot springs. It felt like I was in a Star Wars movie. There were rings of color around the hot springs. The bubbling water and heat rose from the springs; it felt almost eerie yet breathtaking.
After visiting the hot springs, we went back to our house in Jackson Hole to prepare for our dinner. From our view, we could see almost the highest peak of a mountain, where we watched the sunset together while having our usual family barbecues. This place is special because we got to experience one of the most amazing wildlife sightings we’ve ever encountered. It was our last day in Wyoming, and we had all of our bags packed, ready to leave. It was as if God were watching, wanting us to stay, when, at first, a single moose approached, then its whole family joined in. This happened right as we were walking out with our luggage. It was so special that we, as a family, were able to encounter a moose family up close. It was surreal how big the moose were. Thinking back on the memory, I was scared that it might have been able to attack me. I was completely wrong, though. Observing its movements, I couldn’t help but appreciate its swift movements, long strides, and its natural, strong features. We never wanted to forget this moment, so we tried to capture it with our iPhones! (See my photo below).
Wyoming is honestly one of my favorite places I’ve been to. With each trip there, a new experience presents itself. From encountering unusual wildlife to the Grand Tetons and beautiful sunsets, it is a place I would love to live as I get older. I can’t wait to go back again.
